This blog started as a creative outlet for an accountant working in corporate America. A lot has changed in the past few years and this space is where I talk about things that are fun and creative outside of my day-to-day work and chores. Frequent topics will be coupon deals, budgeting, cooking, baking, TV, crafts, books, and product reviews. Thanks for checking my blog out!

Have I told you about my Slanket?
It is so warm and comfy. A little challenging for us shorties (I'm 5' 1").
I just grab the bottom when I walk. I feel kinda like a monk but it is worth it.
QVC has (had) a good price on them.

I love this machine!
The K-cups are a bit pricey but really worth the $, to us.
We've had it about 2 months and are still using it daily.

$39 cup of coffee
Damn, it was good but $39?
Fancy Coffee $4
Parking Ticket $35
Total $39
(whoops, those commercial loading signs DO mean something in CA). TG my boss wasn't with me at this point!
They tried to charge me $3 to pay with a cc. I'll get a free money order instead, those stinkers!
$100 SW certificate!
I recently had to spend the night in NM since my flight arrived 4 hours late and our connection to CA was long gone!
Yesterday I got a $100 gc in the mail! woo-hoo!
I actually would like to avoid Southwest for any cross country trips. They must have their hub in Chicago. I have no need for anymore Chicago stop overs!

Craft Room Update
We got rid of the full size bed and frame that we had in our guest room. Now I have a bona fide craft room and an Aerobed (for the occassional guests).

Home Made/Eco Friendley Laundry Soap
You may have seen The Duggars episode where they had homemade laundry soap. I have had the ingredients for a while but wanted to use us the rest of our store bought laundry soap first. This weekend we finally made it! The secret is going to be the container, I think. We found this awesome container at Target that actually even comes with a scoop. The lid is key. I don't want any spillage.
This is the formula I used. We tripled it in order to use up 1 entire bar of soap.

This is the website the formula and instructions/tips came from.

Homemade Laundry Soap
1/3 bar Fels Naptha or other type of soap, as listed above
½ cup washing soda
½ cup borax powder
~You will also need a small bucket, about 2 gallon size~
Grate the soap and put it in a sauce pan. Add 6 cups water and heat it until the soap melts. Add the washing soda and the borax and stir until it is dissolved. Remove from heat. Pour 4 cups hot water into the bucket. Now add your soap mixture and stir. Now add 1 gallon plus 6 cups of water and stir. Let the soap sit for about 24 hours and it will gel. You use ½ cup per load.

My Favorite Thanksgiving Decoration
It's a skinny Tom the Turkey and he's holding a sign that says "Eat Beef" to make sure he's safe come Thanksgiving time! He's from etsy. If you haven't been to this site before I highly recommend it as it is fun to window shop on and has a lot of home made and vintage stuff.

Kitchen Updates (After):
We've had this done for a bit now but I have been slow to take and upload pictures!
New countertop, new blacksplash, painted cabinets, painted walls, new blinds and painted hinges and handles. Same appliances.
The blank beige wall is kinda bugging me. I may put some kind if vinyl there that I make with my Cricut. I'm open to phrase and/or shape suggestions.
Another book I'm reading:
This is a really cute read so far. I've enjoyed Meg Cabot stories before. It's noting life altering but it is has an entertaining premise so far.

What and I reading for fun?
The Twilight Series! I finished the first 3 and have to get #4. That would require a trip to Walmart, tho. I don't know if I am up for it, LOL. Please bring me a kindle, Santa. Then I won't have to leave my house to get books!
My opinion on the series: Give the first book a chance. It's a little slow to hook you in. If I hadn't been trapped on a plane and bored I may have quit before it got good! These are now Harry Potter quality but they are quite enjoyable.
Seeing the movie promos makes me feel old, tho. Those kids look so young.
When people post that Edward is hot it makes me feel icky!!
What am I reading?
It's pretty informative. I already do a log of the suggested things like eat fruit and whole grains but it is nice to have the information repeated and reinforced.
